Transition from Crisis to Resilience

A Whole Systems Approach: Four Stages of Transition from Crisis to Resilience

In the midst of this global transformation, the old strategies and systems that promised stability, productivity and growth, are breaking down and no longer apply. We need to develop better approaches.

This webinar series provides tools for navigating through the four stages from crisis to resilience and self-reliance. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the nature of crisis and keys to implementing and sustaining transitions that apply to any crisis in any organization, any community, any individual.

At times people resist or ignore the effects of crisis or the need for transitions. They can become either helpless or a hindrance. Prepared facilitators, leaders, managers and citizens can guide the changes and move people through the four stages beyond crisis to become self-reliant and whole.

Demonizing Immigration

Posted on Nov 30th, 2007 by Hina : evolutionary Hina

Friends,

I am very concerned about the trend of scape-goating immigrants. The Republicans are having a heydey out-macho-ing each other on how strong they can be against immigrants.

I am the daughter of Holocaust Survivors who immigrated here when I was young. We are all immigrants. This country was built by hardworking, self-sacrificing immigrants.

Also, Hitler infamously demonized the Jews and many Germans, Poles and Hungarians cheered and turned us in to the authorities. And now it's happening here.

This is insane to witness the galloping fascism in this country.

I know that you do good work for humanity. Please be a voice for reason and compassion. People are crossing the borders for work out of desperation. No one wants to leave their family and home for strange environs and unknown dangers. Making them sound evil or like criminals is criminal.

I have known about people over the last fifty years that immigrated with less than perfect papers. "Illegal alien" is a newly minted demonization.

Where is the love?

Thanks for everything you do.

Please contact your representatives if you share my concerns. I don't want the Democrats to out-macho the Republicans. Some of have to wake up to this nightmare.

let me know how you feel.

I got tagged by Time to Shine

Posted on Nov 29th, 2007 by Hina : evolutionary Hina

If you are reading this because I tagged you, this is how it works. Stop, breathe, make a little space and then do these things (it all helps you come out more rounded!):

1. Link to the person's blog who tagged you.

2. Post these rules on your blog.

3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself.

4. Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

I am on a learning curve and I list my 7 weird things and will try to figure out how to tag 7 random people.

1. I was born in Italy right after WW2 from 2 Holocaust survivors

2. My partner and I call ourselves "the bears" and we are the momma bears.

3. I drove across the country in the spring encountering the most dramatic weather. We left when a Tornado touched down in Raleigh NC.

4. My first language was Yiddish.

5. I took off my heels in the 70's and wear only comfy shoes.

6. I eat organic food almost exclusively.

7. The most transformative movie I saw recently was "Evening" with Vanessa Redgrave, her daughter, Meryl Streep and her daughter.

Here are my seven people. Being new this could take while.

Get WIRED Naturally

Here we are at the end of another year. Looking to New Year I have been thinking about a fresh start for my business clients. We all get so caught in our own world of tasks that we hardly notice what our cohorts are doing except if it messes us up. About 10 years ago I created a process for realigning the whole group that has worked miracles. We get everyone together to talk about their work and the lights start to go on. And everyone sees how and where they are connected. Then organically they begin to align like birds flying in formation. They go from chaos to connection to full capacity on all burners.

Firing on all cylinders

Posted on Oct 17th, 2007 by Hina : evolutionary Hina
What a spectacular time we're living in. I got my mail this morning and found my picture on page 43 of the Green Festival program guide. I will be on a panel about Visioning Our Communities. I also got invited to write a column by igreenbuild.com on the social side of sustainability. The doors are opening wider for all of us to grow our sustanable future inside the old like a blossom that grows up through the concrete of a city sidewalk. I have been working in the business world, with non-profits and communities for a long time. There is no shortage of technology. The ideas that are is arizing are wonderful. But the most challenging transition into a green world is us. Most of us in the west were raised in a my, me, mine culture bent on being successful or even just surviving. We have to learn how to transition into we, us partners, ours if we want to thrive now. The way I see it, the most important peice of evolving into a sustainable society is working on the social side. How do we breakthrough 5000+ years of cultural conditioning? How do we collaborate, co-create, and think together? What is a leader in the new paradigm? Do we need competition to propel us or is that part of an old culture? What is a true democracy? What are social technologies that facilitate full participation? How do we step into our own Power? What is True Power in the new era? How do we prepare ourselves? What is our own learning edge in the evolutionary cycle?
